A couple weekends ago, I was invited to my friend Kalle's family's holiday house on the island of Oland. It's about a four hour drive from Lund and separated from mainland Sweden by a short drive over a bridge. Once designated as the Swedish king's private hunting ground, its now home to many farmers and artists. While it's known for its scenery and beaches, we unluckily arrived on a rainy weekend.

You can find these vegetable stands all throughout the island. There's no cashier to oversee the transaction, just a box for you to put your money and a selection of each farmer's latest goods.
